Kids' Connection

First Protestant Church is a place that loves kids!
First Protestant Church is a place that loves kids! The vision that fuels our work for the souls of kids grows out of Jesus’ words in Mark 10:14 - "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these." In the midst of His widespread ministry to adults, Jesus regularly took time to give of Himself to children -- we believe that effective ministry to children today will impact the Kingdom of God for eternity.
We put a high priority on our ministries to children -- we want to see kids learn to follow and serve God with all their hearts! It’s our desire to show God’s love to his precious little ones, leading them to a clear understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and instilling in them a heart to serve Him.
We recognize that the first responsibility to children for these things rests with every child’s parents. However, we as a church family strive to enrich that process in any way we can, so our ministries to children are as diverse as the children themselves!
Nursery 9:00 - 11:45 AM
A staffed nursery is provided for infants-36 months in the FPC School area. A nursery leader will meet you and your child at the check-in area to receive your child, diaper bag, and other necessary items. At the time of check-in, a card with a unique number will be provided for you, your child and your diaper bag. We ask that you present your card when picking up your child. A child will not be released to anyone without a card with a matching number.
Preschool 9:00 - 11:45 AM
A special class is provided for preschool-aged children (3-4 year-olds) in the FPC School area (following the check-in/check-out procedures as our nursery). Leaders use singing, games, crafts, lessons and other fun activities to teach children about their loving Heavenly Father.
Children's Sunday School 9:00 - 10:15 AM
Our elementary-aged (K-5) Sunday School classes provide age-appropriate Bible lessons and learning activities that encourage every child’s social and spiritual development. Each class is led by a skilled and dedicated teacher who is committed to helping children understand God and His word.
Kids' Connection 10:15 - 11:45 AM
Kids’ Connection is our special worship time for elementary-aged (K-5) students. Leaders teach and disciple students in both large and small group settings. We encourage children in worship behavior, giving fun and exciting Bible-based lessons, teaching songs of praise and playing great games!
Heaven's Harmony Children's Choir 5:30 - 6:30 PM
Heaven’s Harmony is a wonderful chance for our elementary-aged (K-5) students to learn about music and singing as well as have opportunities to serve and worship God through song! The choir is assembled periodically dependent upon interest and membership.
Vacation Bible School (dates to be announced)
VBS is a week-long summer Bible program with an emphasis on learning more about God, His word, worship, and other concepts of faith in Jesus Christ. During VBS, children enjoy classroom time with leaders doing crafts, singing, playing games and a whole lot more -- it’s the most exciting week of the summer!
Special Events (dates to be announced)
Kids’ Connection events are a special opportunity for children to get together and have a great time with other kids who love Jesus! Sometimes going to the Eden Home to sing, or gathering in Seele Auditorium to watch a movie in our pajamas -- you never know what sort of fun time of fellowship might be in the works!
Staff and Volunteers
We are as concerned about your child’s safety as you are! All of our children’s ministries are staffed by volunteers who have been approved for service after an application and screening process. We take your child’s security seriously and have policies in place to insure that every child will be safe and cared for in all of our children’s ministry areas.
If you are interested in becoming a children’s ministry volunteer, please contact Reverend Phil Brown at ext. 20 or at pbrown@firstprotestant.com for more information and an application packet.
